The Detroit Black Community Food Security Network is a grassroots food justice group founded to ensure that Detroit’s African American population residents both participated in the food movement and lead its work locally. Known for its D-Town Farm and youth programming, its next project is a mixed-use site in the city featuring a co-op grocery store. The Detroit Black Community Food Security Network was awarded a Catalytic Investment Award in November 2018 to support predevelopment work for this grocery project. Learn more about all awardees.
