Baobab Fare brings the vibrant flavors and culture of East Africa to Detroit. More than just a restaurant, Baobab Fare offers a complete experience with a market, juice bar, and coffee bar, where guests can enjoy healthful, high-protein meals and unique beverages like single-origin coffee from Burundi.

In 2018, Baobab Fare received a Catalytic Investment Award from Michigan Good Food Fund to enhance their offerings, helping the business purchase essential equipment and expand their product lines. They have worked with our lending partners at Capital Impact Partners and business assistance providers at the MSU Center for Regional Food Systems to help them in introducing new products, such as a juice line, and expanding their selection of coffees, teas, and — soon — chocolate.

At Baobab Fare, patrons can explore a world of flavors and shop for specialty groceries in a welcoming setting that celebrates East African hospitality in Detroit.
