Are you ready to take your food or farm business to the next level?

We’re looking for Michigan-based food or farm businesses that can benefit from seed (grant) funding to grow your business and/or prepare for financing. BIPOC and women-owned businesses are highly encouraged to apply. 

We will be awarding 5-10 grants ranging from $5,000-$20,000 to businesses supporting their community by growing racial equity, creating jobs, increasing healthy food access and/or considering resilient climate practices.

Application Process

Applications closed on December 12, 2023 at 5pm ET. Here is an example of the 2023 application process:

  • Provide a brief description of your business: Name and location of business, community(ies) served, and product(s) and/or service(s) provided.
  • Indicate the specific amount requested (up to $20,000). 
  • Provide the business owner’s name(s), and explain if the owner(s) identify as BIPOC and/or women. 
  • Briefly (1-2 paragraphs) describe the status of your business, for example – customer base, revenue, storefront, start-up or established operations, etc. 
  • Describe how you will use the requested funds. Be specific as possible regarding how these funds will help you grow your business, prepare for additional financing, and/or meet your business goals. 


Proposal Review

A committee of Michigan Good Food Fund Stakeholder Board members will review submissions based on the proposed use of funds and business alignment with the performance targets below. Between 5-10 grants will be awarded ranging from $5,000-$20,000. Selected applicants will be notified by in early 2024.
