Launch of a new healthy food retail outlet spotlighting locally grown fruits and vegetables. Creation of 5 new full time jobs.

Little Owl’s Organic Grocery is a grocery and produce store serving the western, Upper Peninsula community of Menominee, Michigan. Founded by a local healthcare professional, the store provides healthy, organic produce at a competitive price with a spotlight on locally-grown fruits and vegetables. When it opened in August 2016, it created the sole outpost of organic produce within a 50 mile radius. The store has created five new full-time jobs in this small, rural community. Michigan Good Food Fund provided a loan through Northern Initiatives to build out the space and purchase equipment and inventory. In addition to financing, Northern Initiatives has provided business assistance for marketing and PR and financial expertise.

Read a story on how business assistance made the important difference for this small business.
